MIUI is not a stranger to someone who knows a thing or two about the smartphone world. MIUI is Xiaomi’s very own custom skin on top of Android, and it’s one of the most popular Android custom UX skins that we know of - and is also a huge reason behind Xiaomi’s success as a company. Back in the days of MIUI 10, Xiaomi actually released a new system of the “recent apps” mechanism, as they allowed users to view recently used apps in a 2x2 vertical layout - which grew out to be plenty popular amongst users.
But now, the Chinese manufacturer is looking to offer another setting of the recent apps screen, something that might sit a bit more comfortably with users who are coming from other popular phone manufacturers over to Xiaomi.
Xiaomi MIUI’s new app screen will bring forth an update that will allow users the option of getting horizontal panels in the recent apps page, just like we’ve been seeing it operate in iOS and other popular Android skins like OxygenOS from OnePlus.
This is the complete changelog of everything new coming in this mini-update for MIUI:
This is going to work fairly simply - just swipe up from the bottom of the screen and hold to get the recent apps screen, and then you’ll get the tabs in horizontal fashion - which you can swipe to close or hold to lock.
All in all, it’s great to see MIUI 12 revolutionizing so quickly and bringing forth so many updates for the consumers - it’s truly a great skin if you’re not into stock Android feels.
