Despite the dropping sales and name, Sony Xperia 1 III is a flagship phone with high resolution and a great refresh rate. Sony released its Xperia Z5 premium back in 2015 which was one of its top tier phones that has a 4K resolution display similarly Xperia 1 III will be combining high resolution and a great refresh rate of 4K 120Hz display. Another noticeable quality is the focal length periscope telephoto camera.
Sony’s design is dependent on the one rule that says focus on evolution rather than ground breaking changes. Xperia 1 III is simply a premium looking blocky rectangular shaped phone. The design is minimalistic with flag surfaces and flat lines. The rear panel features a Gorilla Glass 6 and front panel is a Gorilla Glass Victus. Slightly a large camera setting sticks at the back. One thing that users wouldn’t find in other phones is the two stage shutter button that Xperia 1 III has, this button mimics the shutter release button on the stand alone camera.
Sony has kept pushing the boundaries of display technology for a better experience of an excellent refresh rate. Sony Xperia 1 III is in the different direction from others with its display quality. It’s introducing the 4K 120Hz OLED panel in the world of smartphones. It’s a appreciable achievement but there are few missing points. The display is not always onn the phone auto enables it for specific applications and rest is rendered in the 1080p. When the phone decides to enable 4K the refresh rate drops to 60Hz since the 120Hz refresh rate is not supported at higher resolution.
The Xperia 1 III features a 4,500 mAh it’s an upgrade after 4,000mAh battery from last year’s model. In the testing the Xperia 1 III proves an unremarkable results for its endurance. The WiFi web browsing of 9 hours is also underwhelming in terms of performance which is not going far as compared to the other smartphones featuring 4,500mAh and the 13 hours of video playback is also considered lesser than other smartphones.
