On Nintendo’s Japanese website, the message “Production of the main body of the Nintendo 3DS series has been discontinued,” is posted and under the New 3DS LL, New 2DS LL, and the 2DS listings, the tag “out of production” can be seen.

While the news is alarming for many, it should be noted that only production has been discontinued. The games will still be available for the 3DS and its variations via the Nintendo eShop and various retailers. Furthermore, there are no plans to end online play.
