Tecno Phantom X Review

The company represented its Phantom lineup and placed it as their flagship line up for the users which is expected to reach further market such as Turkey. So in its nature this Phantom range has nothing to do with the previously released Tecno Phantom phones such as Phantom 9.

The company decided to bring out its first Phantom flagship device known as Phantom X. It’s the first top of the line according to Tecno portfolio but it seems to hold the tag flash-ship a little loosely here. Phantom X is a slightly newer version of the previously released Tecno Camon 17 Pro. It’s just the chipset that is not competitive to the other famed flagship phones but Tecno Phantom has a premium level of features and specifications that makes the experience worthwhile.

Design And Display

Tecno has cut the edges to achieve the design that is distinguished from the other tecno phones by introducing some of the key design changes to its standard glass sandwich formula. The most noticeable change in Tecno Phantom X is would be its back design. The back is textured and made up of Gorilla Glass 5. The Phantom X has a display that needs to be talked about. It deserves appreciation for its OLED panel which is elegantly curved and supports a 90Hz refresh rate. However, the display has a cut out for the two front facing camera. Choosing the 90Hz refresh rate gives a smooth usage for most of the applications.

Battery Life

The flagship is carrying a 4,700mAh battery, surely the Phantom X is named in top of the list for it’s endurance. It takes the victory amongst its competitors just with few hours of extra endurance. However the Phantom X is about average on the screen-on or video playback results which means that standby and call test are main driving force. For the charging speed we can not consider it to be as fast as it was expected to be, it takes an hour and half to get a full charged.

Tecno is using its own proprietary skin on the top of the latest Android 11 OS and it doesn’t look too heavy on the eyes which is a great point about it, it’s easy to adapt and use. The latter is divided into groups that starts with favourites or those which are commonly used.

Phantom X runs on the MediaTek Helio G95, in terms of performance the Phantom X is running behind in the competition where flag-shippers are having Snapdragon 700 series chipsets which are powerful and efficient. Interestingly there’s another addition to the performance with it’s 8GB RAM and 256Gb expandable internal storage. Moreover, if we compare Phantom X to the competitors it’s still lacking behind in competition due to the chipset it could’ve been on a topper end if the chipset was as good as Snapdragon series.

The Phantom X features give camera in total and two great high resolution sensors. The 50 mega pixel lens in Phantom X is the biggest sensor in the market with quadBayer sensor. It’s actually found in much expensive phones but Phantom X carries it like a crown. There’s a laser for a better focus in low light and the lens offers a reasonably wide aperture. But, when we shift to the results it’s sad to say the quality of images are far from impressive that we do not expect form a strong lens and while having fives cameras in a phone.
