Sony is developing another camera sensor with Oppo, this time for the Find X3 series

Oppo and Sony seem to be on some kind of personal partnership, as things seem to be developing great between the two tech giants, as Sony is looking to provide Oppo with custom-made camera sensors for the Chinese manufacturer’s phones. Oppo just announced the new IMX766 by Sony for their newly released phone Oppo Reno5 Pro+ 5G. This hinted and sparked some discussions about a possible deal between these companies. Now, this seems to go even further as due to some leaks and rumours, there is going to be a new Sony sensor reserved just for the upcoming Find X3 series by Oppo which will reportedly be called the IMX789.

The Find X2 Pro received similar treatment by Sony, as they got a custom made IMX689 with a particularly large sized sensor for a phone, which helped the camera capture more megapixels and perform a lot better as compared to other sensors in the game. Something similar could be on the way for the X3 series, as we could see another large sensor custom made by Sony for Oppo’s flagship, with better pixel capturing - or even see the 108MP barrier crossed in a smartphone camera.

All in all, it’s really interesting to see this partnership being formed, and it will be intriguing to see how it develops in the feature.
