According to Korean media reports, Samsung may announce an investment plan for the United States and Pyeongtaek in South Korea next month, totalling approximately US$44.74 billion. Among them, the investment for the second plant in the United States is estimated at 17 billion U.S. dollars. The location may be one of Texas, Arizona and New York. Austin, Texas, is the most likely location for the plant.
Previously reported, Samsung's plan to build a factory in the United States is expected to begin construction this year, installing significant equipment starting 2022 and operating as early as 2023. As early as October last year, Samsung had applied to Travis County, Texas, to purchase 258 acres of land next to the main factory area at the current site. Samsung established an office in Austin in 1996 and then expanded its semiconductor plant twice. Samsung has recently completed the introduction of foundry and NANDFlash production line equipment.
It is worth mentioning that Samsung has officially announced the next Unpacked event, held on April 28 at 10 am Eastern Standard Time. International media speculate that Samsung may release the Galaxy S21 FE, new smartwatches, notebooks and other 'strongest Galaxy devices' this time.
