After the reveal of the Galaxy Watch 3, Samsung has decided to update the software of the Galaxy Watch Active 2 with some of the Galaxy Watch 3’s best health, communication, and, connectivity features. While the Galaxy Watch Active was released in 2019, the same as the Galaxy Watch 2, this courtesy has not been extended to it.
The Running Analysis feature helps to improve your performance and reduces the risk of injury by giving you metrics including asymmetry, regularity, stiffness, vertical oscillation, ground contact time, and more. It is also possible to measure VO2 max now which indicates the maximum level of oxygen you can utilize during an intense exercise.
With this update, the wearable will also include the Fall Detection feature. If a potential fall is detected, the wearable will give the user an option to send an SOS notification to up to four predesignated contacts. It can also do so on its own if it does not receive any input from the user.
The new Communications feature makes it easier to respond to notifications and for users to view their chat history. The update also includes smart reply and allows you to display emoticons and images. You can also send AR emoji stickers and bitmoji stickers directly from your wrist. The new scroll capture feature permits you to automatically send a screenshot taken on the watch as an image to the paired smartphone. On top of that, you also have direct access to playlists on your phone.
After this update, which was made today, there’s little left that differentiates the Galaxy Watch 2 and Galaxy Watch 3, excluding their design. We are sure the users of the Galaxy Watch 2 must be excited to try out these newly updated features.
