iPhone Beats Samsung’s Sales In The Last Year 0f 2020

On February 23, Gartner released the latest statistics showing that Apple’s smartphone shipments in the fourth quarter of 2020 surpassed rival Samsung Electronics, regaining the top position for the first time since 2016.

Apple's strong holiday shopping season performance and Gartner's latest estimates indicate that iPhone 12 series with 5G features and a new external design is top-rated in the market. These figures also show that Apple has withstood the new crown pneumonia epidemic test better than its competitors.

The market research organization IDC also released its own statistical report last month, showing that Apple shipped 90.1 million smartphones in the fourth quarter of last year. IDC's report also said that this was the best quarter for all companies in smartphone shipments.

Apple did not announce the sales of its devices. However, the company said that the iPhone's revenue in the fourth quarter of 2020 increased by 17% year-on-year to $65.6 billion. Apple's business is greatly affected by seasonality, and the fourth quarter as of the end of December is usually the company's highest sales quarter.

According to Gartner's data, in the context of the ongoing global new crown pneumonia epidemic, international smartphone shipments in 2020 have fallen by 5.4%, while Apple's sales have increased by 3.3%. However, Samsung's mobile phone shipments in 2020 are still the highest.

The largest decline in smartphone shipments is Huawei because it is affected by the US component supply restrictions. In 2020, the company's mobile phone sales fell by 24.1%. Gartner's data also showed that although Samsung did not face the same challenges, its shipments dropped by 14.6% last year.
