Instagram Is Launching Its Own Version Of TikTok

Tiktok has taken the world by storm ever since its release, as the app has accumulated hundreds of millions of users on its platform, with over a billion total downloads as well of its app on the Play Store & App Store. The app has proved a valuable source of income for many people, who use the platform to make videos and entertain people to make money off of it. However, with the popularity of the app, there’s also uncertainty about the future of it, as the app is made in China, and there’s an issue of it providing user data to the Chinese government, which is being claimed by authorities globally.

Even though there’s a good chance that Tiktok will win the case in their favour, it still might put the platform at risk for future dealings, as it’s still going to remain a Chinese app ultimately. So as an alternative, Instagram has been quick to launch its own app which essentially serves the same purpose as Tiktok - short and entertaining videos. Instagram Reels will be the latest app by the social media app owned by Facebook, as they’re going to try and get the user base of Tiktok to their application for future proof earnings.

Both apps are going to be similar, as you can record your videos with music in the background, along with having a feed and all. However, you’ll be limited to only 15 second clips on Reels, whereas Tiktok allows for up to a minute of video content in one post. Reels is expected to land in the US by the first week or so of August, and will further expand to about 50 other countries across the world in the near future. It’ll be interesting to see if Reels will be able to make a mark on the public like Tiktok did.
