The ever-anticipated Huawei Mate 40 series is finally almost here, after frustrating delays due to some supply issues. We’re all aware of the bans on Huawei and while the company did face many issues, that hasn’t stopped them from putting our impressive products and alternatives. In a tweet on September, Huawei reassured us that the series will be with us soon.
According to a popular Weibo leakster, @鹏鹏君车, Huawei is set to release 4 flagship phones in its Huawei Mate 40 lineup. This will include the Huawei Mate 40, Mate Pro, Mate 40 Pro+, and Mate 40 RS Porsche models. The series is rumored to be globally released in mid-October though according to the leak, the series will arrive in China at the end of October.
In terms of design, the Mate 40 will feature a 6.67-inch curved LG screen with a 90Hz refresh rate. The phone will pack a triple rear camera with a 50-megapixel main camera module, a 20-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, an 8-megapixel telephoto camera and a laser auto-focus module. In the front, the dual front punch-hole houses a selfie camera.
The Mate 40 Pro+ on the other hand will use a waterfall screen from LG Display and BOE with a a 90Hz refresh rate. The Mate 40 Pro+ “Super Cup” will come with the new ultra-sensitive Leica quad camera with a 50-megapixel wide-angle sensor with liquid lens technology, an 80-megapixel Cine sensor, along with a periscope and Time of Flight sensor. The phone also uses a periscope telephoto lens which supports 5x optical zoom 55x digital zoom. It is important to note that none of this information has been confirmed yet.
Due to US trade ban, Huawei cannot order its Kirin chip-sets and this series might be the last devices to use Huawei's homegrown Kirin chip-sets. The company previously confirmed that the upcoming Kirin 9000 SoC could be the latest flagship chip-set from Huawei. It was rumored that the company received about 10 million Kirin 9000 units.
The Huawei Mate 40 will come with an EMUI 10.x system based on Android 11 and Huawei Mobile Services while the Mate 40 Pro will be pre-installed with EMUI 11. In terms of battery, we expect to see a 4300 mAh battery in the Mate 40, a 4600 mAh battery in the Mate 40 Pro and a 5000 mAh battery in the Mate 40 Pro+ .
