Google Street View App Will Support The “Photo Path” Function To Facilitate User Navigation.
According to the media XDA news, some users have packaged the latest APK file of the Google Street View application and found a new field in the code called “Photo Path.” Code comments show that this feature allows users to “take a series of photos along the road or walking path” to generate a short photo collection to help other users navigate based on consecutive photos directly.
Previously, the Google Street View App tested the “driving mode” function, allowing users to use their mobile phones to record street views without a 360° camera, contributing to the Google platform.
Google Street View app file version analyzed by this user is 220.127.116.117726500. There is also an icon for the photo path function and a demo video in the file obtained by unpacking the APK. Due to GPS positioning accuracy indoors and in complex environments, this function can significantly help users navigate by referring to a series of pictures in the mobile phone, walking along the path accurately, which is very intuitive and convenient.
The Google Street View app was recently updated on February 17, 2021. It can be connected to Ricoh’s Theta V and Theta Z1 panoramic cameras to capture street views and publish them to Google Maps for global users.
