We all know about the Big 5 of social media apps that almost everyone in the world uses. Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, Whatsapp and Snapchat. These are the most well known social media apps globally, and 4 of the 5 apps are owned by Facebook. Instagram, Messenger and Whatsapp all come under the ownership of Facebook, which has the authority to make changes to any of these platforms as it wishes. Previously, we did have Mark Zuckerberg tell us that he’s planning to merge different platforms into one app, but we didn’t get too much information on that statement. However, now due to rumours and leaks from various insiders, we may get to see Messenger integrate with Whatsapp and Instagram.
Twitter user @alex193a, who’s a developer himself, gave us the information that Facebook is working to integrate Instagram with Messenger, and that the latter will be the new mode of communication inside of Instagram. After that update, we were also informed that Facebook has created a local database which will in future contain information from Whatsapp, which further indicates a possible integration of the two in the future. Now we don’t know when this will happen or how far ahead we will have to wait to see this come to life - but it seems like a giant possibility.
This will have to be carried out very carefully by Facebook, as it will mean avoiding the reception of any sensitive user data and steering clear of all lawful issues before making this integration come to life. It will be interesting to see how the social media giant will go forward with this one, and whether or not this will come into existence or not.
