Facebook has long gone from being just a social media website to converse with friends or family through the platform. It has grown into a much bigger service for businesses and companies to run their entire businesses on the website - and most owners would rather market their products on Facebook than on a separate website. This is mostly due to the large amount of audience on the website, and also the different incentives and features that the social media giant has provided to businesses if they choose to set up their services on the platform.
Now, Facebook is also introducing a Messenger plugin feature for businesses that they can add on their own website to communicate with customers. Basically, if a business is registered on Facebook, they can add the Messenger chat option on their own website which they can use to talk with their customers directly. This feature has been available for several years now, but users previously had to log in to their Facebook account before - something which is not needed now with the recent update. Users will be able to contact the business without logging in, and use the live chat option to ask all of their queries.
Businesses are happy with the new feature, as one CEO of BlendJet has said that his company has seen sales get tripled after using the new Messenger Plugin:
“Having an open line of communication with our customers gives them a sense of confidence from the browsing stage to final checkout.
We noticed that customers who engage with us are three to four times more likely to checkout. With the Chat Plugin allowing us to reach more customers, we’ve tripled our sales since offering it as a customer engagement channel.”
Facebook is continuously trying to make their platform more and more suitable for businesses to operate and earn through their channel - a great trend to see being developed through and through.
