Facebook Initiates Roll Out Of Dark Mode For Its Mobile App

Facebook had promised and talked about dark mode coming to its phone application soon for users, as a tentative date was not provided, but it was to be expected in a couple of months. However, that statement was made 5 months ago, and not much progress or information was given about the arrival of dark mode on Facebook’s phone app. However, that is up till a few days ago, as Facebook is finally testing out publicly the dark mode theme on their Facebook application, and you might have it in your app too.

The issue with the roll out is that no one knows who is being targeted for the rollout - a definitive pattern has not been recognized yet, as it could be just random users getting the new update.

Dark Mode is a feature that almost everyone loves, as it helps ease the strain on your eyes, it reduces battery consumption if your phone has an AMOLED display, and a lot more. Facebook has dark mode everywhere, even on the desktop version - but the phone app has been delayed for so long that many thought it wasn’t even going to come. However, it’s being rolled out now and you don’t need to worry.

To check if you’ve gotten the update too - just go to your app, and make sure it’s updated to the latest version from the app store. Then proceed to the three lines in the top right corner, and head on to Settings & Privacy, and from there you’ll find the Dark Mode tab hanging there. You either get an option to turn it on, off, or set it to System Default, which will make the theme follow the overall theme set on the smartphone’s OS.

All in all, it’s great to know that Facebook has finally started releasing the dark mode themed Facebook update for users.
