Facebook Adds Shops To WhatsApp, Amongst Other Updates Of E-Commerce

The social media site took the chance to make e-commerce far more easier while you scroll down photos on your social media. Instagram shops and Facebook marketplace, both are prominently displayed on the app’s navigation tabs found on the bottom. But shopping online has been made more easier since Facebook introduced shops on WhatsApp as well along with other interesting updates. 

The CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the updates of e-commerce on Live Audio Room.

 The CEO announced three e-commerce updates recently that will be introduced to Facebook products. Shops on WhatsApp, Marketplace, Shops Ads and Instagram Visual Search. 

Mark Zuckerberg says, “ More than one billion people use Marketplace each month, so we are making it easier for businesses to bring their Shops into Marketplace to reach even more people.”

Mark Zuckerberg as well posted about this on Facebook writing that “ When customers view a shop on WhatsApp , they will have an option of chatting with businesses before buying something.”

Also, previously in an F8 conference held, Facebook unveiled some of the upgrades that are coming up for the WhatsApp Business. Since previously people faced issues to set up business account and it would take weeks to do so but due to the updates now WhatsApp business account can be logged in within few minutes. WhatsApp has users in million and if we count that it makes up to 2 million global users, and only about 175 millions users communicate through WhatsApp business for queries such as customer support. Facebook has been pushing Instagram to add platform for e-commerce, it’s seems that WhatsApp this initiative will surely expand to reach WhatsApp as well. 

WhatsApp will rollout shops very soon. However, the Shops inventory in Marketplace is available now for Shops in U.S that provides on-site check out as well.

Based on people’s individual shopping habits, Shop Ads provided a feature to give an individualized shopping experience. As Mark Zuckerberg explained, “ We’re launching the ability for a business to send shoppers to where you’re going to be most likely to make a purchase based on your shopping behavior.” Starting from now the AR dynamic Ads are introduced that allows companies like Huda Beaty and Laura Mercier use these adds to help the customers choose and test lipstick shades in the most advanced way that technology has introduced by smart AR before making a purchase. The AR try on experience are made easily available through the API integration along with ModiFace and Perfect Crop. Earlier, Pinterest also collaborated with ModiFace to launch the AR vision of eyeshadow to try on.

The AI based visual search feature will be introduced on Instagram for testing in coming months. 

Mark Zuckerberg while telling further about these new features said, A lot of shopping discovery begins with visual discovery, right, so you see something that you think is awesome. And then, you know, maybe you want to see other products that are like that, or you want to figure out how to get that product,” The CEO explained. “And this is the type of problem that AI can really help out with.”

By using the latest AI people can easily upload their photos even the ones that are not on their Instagram account in order to find similar items they are looking for. It seems to be Facebook’s current goal to enhance the shopping experience online by introducing some of the smartest features. It will definitely change the way people shop online with major technology.
