Don't Want Friends To Know Your Location On Snapchat? Here's How!

Snapchat is one of the most popular social media apps in the world, with millions of users daily on the platform. It’s one of the big 5 social media apps, which include Facebook, Messenger, Whatsapp, Instagram and Snapchat. The prior 4 are all owned by Facebook, so you could say that Snapchat is the only real contender to Facebook in this matter. Snapchat has a lot of nifty features and tricks that attracts users from other social platforms and makes them prioritize the app over others. However, some features might be liked by one group of people, but disliked by the other.

One such feature is the Snapchat Compass, which allows users to pull up Snap Map, and locate where their friends are on the map. This is a cool addition in the app and helps friends to find one another on the map, or see if someone is visiting their area and could possibly plan a meetup. Snapchat makes use of this by gathering the location of users and using the phone’s built-in sensors to pinpoint where exactly everyone on the map is. However, sharing location to a social media app or other friends isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, and some people might feel uncomfortable with their privacy being in the hands of someone else. For this reason, Snapchat gives an easy option to disable the mode, and not expose your location to people on your friendlist.

All you have to do is click on your profile icon on the top left, and go to Snap Maps. Once you’re done with this step, you’ll find an option of “Ghost Mode” in the list; click on it, and you’ll be invisible to all your friends. If someone wants to know your location on the Snap Maps, then they can always request you for it and it will be on you whether or not you want to accept it. You can also disable location permissions for Snapchat by going into the Apps section in your phone’s settings. However, this will also take away some of the cool features that Snapchat has which use your phone’s location.

Happy Snapchatting!
