ASUS ROG 3 was released a few days ago, and it’s easily one of the most powerful phones in the market, which should be obvious considered it’s a gaming oriented device. The phone is super snappy and fluid, thanks to its Snapdragon 865 Plus processor, and the option to go upto 16GB in RAM on the phone. However, another aspect that adds to that smooth experience is the best-in-class, 144Hz refresh rate display on board - but, it has been discovered that 144Hz may not be the limit to the refresh rate of this screen.
It was discovered by an XDA developer, inside the phone settings, that a debug option allowed him to actually set the refresh rate to 160Hz for the display, which is unheard of in a smartphone. You can check out the step by step guide on how to activate it in the source article mentioned below. Once you’ve followed the steps, simply download the Fluid Simulation app on your ROG 3 device, and set the settings to 160Hz, and you’ll be able to tell if it works correctly or not.
It’s crazy to see how much phones have advanced, and who would’ve known that phones would have up to 160Hz refresh rate support in their displays. We think ASUS wasn’t done fully testing the 160Hz functionality, so they didn’t include it in the phone - but hopefully with a future update and more people getting in on this news, they just might make it officially available.
