Apple recently published a patent called "Light Source Module with Adjustable Focus," which can diffuse the camera flash according to the distance of the object to evenly illuminate the scene.
The patent document points out that a flash that cannot be adjusted according to the zoom level or the distance to the object will cause uneven lighting of the scene. The flash in the patent will include lighting elements and adjustable light diffusion materials. The camera controls the flash and controls the diffusion at the same time. Illuminator so that the entire scene can be uniformly illuminated. If the patent is put into use, it is expected to replace the current "night scene mode."
The patent also mentions that the solution can be applied to cameras in many different types of devices, such as "larger electronic devices, including mobile electronic devices, which can include mobile phones, smartphones, laptops, etc.. "
However, the patent does not mention LiDAR lidar but clearly mentions that the distance information comes from the camera's autofocus.
