Apple Intends To Release A Mixed Reality Headset Through An Offline Conference Sometime 'In The Coming Months.'

Mark Gehrman said that Apple is preparing to release a mixed reality headset at some point in the next few months, which is the first major new device since 2015. If possible, Apple does not want to announce such an essential product through an online conference. It hopes that employees, media, partners, and developers can participate.

Bloomberg previously reported that Apple plans to launch this new product as early as next year. According to today's recent news, Apple may release it in advance so that developers have time to adapt to the new virtual reality experience. This is also in line with Apple's usual practice. For example, before launching a Mac computer with a self-developed chip, Apple announced the news several months in advance through the Apple Global Developers Conference so that developers had time to develop applications.

According to relevant revelations, this headset may be equipped with an 8K display, support eye-tracking, and track the movement of hands through multiple cameras, which will be mainly used for games. This device will be a direct competitor to other products already on the market, such as Facebook's Oculus Rift.

It is understood that after this headset, Apple plans to release a more mainstream extended reality product, which is currently informally called Apple glasses, and the glasses will be launched in a few years.
